Owida Dunn, Owner of Accessories Dunn Right

The NWBO would like to spotlight Mrs. Owida Dunn. Fashion has been a passion of Ms. Owida Junine Dunn for as far back as she can remember. She believes it started with Charm School and Modeling at Wendy Wards when she was about five years old in Flint, Michigan where she was born and raised. Her family relocated to DeKalb, Mississippi her sophomore year of high school and she discovered blue jeans and bold, colorful accessories during that year. With supportive parents Owida Junine Dunnchanged her major and career aspirations from going to law school to being a fashion stylist. Ms. Dunn received her B.S in Apparel, Textile and Merchandising from Mississippi State University in 1991. The industry wasn’t as diverse back then and she was often the only person of color in my classes, however, her professors and classmates didn’t treat her differently. She was always encouraged to test the limits and even had one professor tell her that she knew that she would have a successful boutique one day. Walking on the main campus of MSU, she’d often get looks and someone would say “her major is fashion” and the response was like lightbulb going off and you’d hear the reply “Ohh, okay” . Owida Junine Dunn has had a unique style for most of my life, pressing the limits and often others imagination, with color combinations, mix-match accessory choices and audacity to stand out in a crowd. She is an introvert that lets her clothing and accessories do the talking for her. After a few years working retail, she shifted to education which she also loves. For years Owida, separated her love of learning, teaching and training from her love of all things fashion. In 2020, Ms. Dunn realized that they don’t have to be separate, but equal and she relaunched her business and began purposefully growing a team. Today, her goal is to help every woman and man, find their unique style and own it through affordable fashion accessories. She have a passion for fashion and a huge love for reading. Every, single day, she reads a novel or some sort. Alos she loves all genres, but most days you’ll see her with a self-help book to help her grow as a person/entrepreneur and a contemporary, multicultural fiction novel. Accessories Dunn Right we are so elated to have you as a part of our global women's network.
